Helen of joy

A SINGER from Cleator has swept the board at the Workington Music Festival.

NOTEWORTHY: Helen Moore, from Cleator, winner of six major trophies at Workington Musical Festival, last week, including the prestigious Gold Cup.

Helen Moore, an administrator at Arlecdon School, won five out of the seven competitions she entered at last week’s festival and was runner-up in the other two.

Helen also claimed the prestigious Williams Gold Cup as the overall winner of the festival.

“I enjoy competing as it keeps you on top,” says Helen, of Brookside.

“The standard keeps getting higher and higher at the music festivals in recent years and you have to raise your own game accordingly.”

Helen won the soprano, mezzo soprano, opera, light opera (joint first) and Victorian Edwardian categories, and secured the Gold Cup with her rendition of The Song of Shadows by Armstrong Gibbs.
