Whitehaven Rambling Club

ORGANISED by Fred and Effie Graham, 31 members of the club recently travelled from Stranraer to Belfast on the Seacat ferry, to spend a week in the Mountains of Mourne area of Northern Ireland.

Whitehaven Flower Arrangers

THE final total raised from the walk around Buttermere was announced at the beginning of this month’s meeting – £1,425 has been raised and is going to the Hospice at Home.

AS THE date of the July meeting clashed with the Federation 90th Celebration Event at Greenhill, it was cancelled; any urgent business was discussed at our coffee evening the following Thursday.

Calder Sew and Sews

THE meeting on June 16 was our annual strawberry tea. To add to the treat a member, Betty, had made up kits to make a small fabric strawberry just the right size for a key ring or a small pair of embroidery scissors.

OUR club was opened by chairman John Allonby. We had a thank you card from Lily Hurst’s family – Lily, who died at the end of April, was one of the stalwart early members of our club.
