WHITEHAVEN’S Leon Fussell is bringing his new band to CockRock this weekend.
Based in Newcastle, Leon was formerly of the band Novasmoke but has formed a new rock band – Eocene.
They are currently playing at a series of summer festivals and shows including CockRock, at Cockermouth, and then at Solfest, near Silloth, in August.
Headlining CockRock are Kid British, festival favourites Dodgy, punk stalwarts Sham 69 and The King Blues.
Eocene draw on influences from the delta blues to modern day rock legends, combining the grooves of Metallica and Alice in Chains, with the sing along melodies of the Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam.
Leon, who is on vocals and guitar, joined forces with Jonny Wright (guitar), Paul Thompson (drums/vocals) and Ben Cleaver (bass).
Their simple aim is to write rock songs with big hooks and give memorable live performances.
The band are soon to go into the studio to record their first album – demos of some of the songs can be listened to on myspace/eoceneonline
They will be playing on Saturday in Tent 42, at 7.15pm.
CockRock takes place from 3pm on Friday, July 16 until late on Sunday, July 18. It will feature over 150 bands and DJs, appearing over seven stages, at Wellington Farm in Cockermouth, near Mitchells Auction on the A66.
The festival is in aid of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team and The Pride of Cumbria Air Ambulance.
