PROPOSAL: In the Lowry Hotel in Manchester in October 2008, where Dave gave Liz an emerald cut diamond ring from Boodles in Manchester.
VENUE: Muncaster Church. The bride was given away by the bride and groom’s best friend Tony Calvin who acted on behalf of the bride’s mum Betty Squire.
As Liz walked down the aisle Dave and usher Paul played acoustic guitar and the best man Pete sang the opening lines of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, which Dave had engraved onto Liz’s engagement ring.
THEME: Glamour.
BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A Maggie Sottero strapless gown in pale gold satin with ruched laced-up bodice, beading along the neckline and a spray of beading on the skirt with puddle train and a pale gold bolero jacket for the church service, from I Do, Cockermouth.
GROOMSMEN: The groom’s best friend Pete Lutwyche was best man and ushers were Paul Nichol and Keith Robinson. The bride’s son Joshua Wareing was groomsman.
They wore black dinner suits, white shirts and bow ties, from I Do, Cockermouth.
BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s daughter Leticia Wareing and the bride’s best friend Sal Calvin were bridesmaids and wore pale satin cappuccino dresses with small fishtail trains, from I Do, Cockermouth.
FLOWERS: The bride carried a full length shower bouquet of pure white phalaenopis orchids from Floral Design, Workington.
TRANSPORT: The groom, Pete and Joshua arrived at the church in Pete’s Aston Martin DB9 and the bride, Tony and the bridesmaids arrived in a horse and carriage from Lakeland Carriages, Wigton.
RECEPTION: Muncaster Castle for 50 guests for a Pimms reception and four-course meal.
A further 50 guests arrived for a champagne reception followed by an evening reception in the old laundry at Muncaster Castle.
TABLE SETTINGS: The tables were dressed in white linen with tall glass vases of calla lillie and bear grass with pale gold glass droplets. Each table was named after the bride and groom’s favourite hotels, with the top table named Le Manoir Au Quatre Saisons in Oxfordshire.
Each table of guests had a quiz about the bride and groom set by Joshua and Letitia.
FAVOURS: Heart shaped boxes containing Grasmere gingerbread and written by calligrapher Simon Whitmore, who also designed the table plan.
CAKE: A four-tier round cake with champagne icing, cappucino details, pale gold pillars and a cascade of real phalaenopsis orchids, by Susan Archer, Cleator.
The wedding was on Dave’s birthday and Liz organised a surprise bass guitar cake with cake toppers by featsofclay.co.uk.
FIRST DANCE: Trail of Broken Hearts, Dragonforce.
ENTERTAINMENT: The groom, ushers and best man’s band Weather Rock entertained guests followed by a disco by James Robinson from Cleator Moor.
HONEYMOON: A Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona.
